Why The Engine Room?
Diagnose first. Replace only what needs replacing.
I believe in treating your equipment as if it were my own. That means taking the time to understand the problem, explaining what I find, and recommending the repair that makes sense. Sometimes that means fixing it. Sometimes it means telling you that repairing it isn't worth the money.
Built on Experience. Driven by Curiosity.
The Engine Room is a small, owner-operated repair shop focused on keeping gasoline-powered outdoor power equipment running. With 20 years of experience as a Coast Guard Machinery Technician, I take a diagnostic-first approach: find the problem, explain what needs to be done, and fix what actually needs fixing.
I’ve always enjoyed figuring out how things work, especially when they don’t work the way they’re supposed to. From troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems to taking apart complicated equipment and putting it back together, I like finding the answer. That same approach is what I bring to The Engine Room: careful troubleshooting, honest recommendations, and repairs done right.
How I Approach Repairs.
Good repair work starts with understanding the problem. I'll inspect and test your equipment, explain what I find, and give you a straightforward recommendation before moving ahead with non-routine repairs.
Sometimes the right answer is a repair. Sometimes replacing the equipment makes more sense. Either way, you'll know what you're dealing with before spending money on parts.
I want to fix your gear, not generate a parts bill!

Customer Equipment Coverage

I Like Fixing Things. Especially When They’re Complicated.
I’ve spent much of my career figuring out why things don’t work and what it takes to make them work again. I enjoy the process of troubleshooting, whether the problem is mechanical, electrical, or simply something that isn’t behaving the way it should.
That curiosity is a big part of The Engine Room. I’m not interested in throwing parts at a problem and hoping for the best. I want to understand what failed, fix it properly, and know that the equipment works when it leaves the shop.
Supporting the Community That Supports Us.
The Engine Room offers a 25% Discount on labor to qualifying local nonprofit and community organizations.
It’s a small way to give something back to the people and organizations that help make our community a better place. Parts are charged at normal pricing, and the discount does not stack with other offers.
